Manufactured Landscape, 2010

Archival Inkjet Print

Manufactured Landscapes is a series of images that explore the impact when fragile nature meets technological ambitions in the ancient caves of Kunming, China and its surrounding villages. Carefully composed and crafted, each image is loaded with a single element but hints at the complex layers between man and nature.

Manufactured Landscapes also explores balance and harmony, where balance is an important Confucian value. Maintaining a balance while forging ahead is a constant challenge not only for China but also the rest of the world. Can we keep on growing without destroying ourselves?

Manufactured Landscapes is a project in collaboration with China Exploration & Research Society (CERS)
